The founding fathers spent a long, hot summer  together debating, writing, compromising, and finally  finishing the U.S. constitution. The Federalists were led by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and John Jay. They argued for ratification, while Anti-federalists George Mason, Patrick Henry, Luther Martin and Richard Henry Lee argued against ratification.
